Carry Respect, Not A Blade

Our training.

Child criminal exploitation (CCE) can be deeply damaging, not just for the child involved but for their whole family. The effects are often long-lasting and layered, touching mental health, safety, relationships, and future opportunities. Raising awareness of CCE is vitally important to keep children safer and  get families help quicker.

Our extensive services:

The Joe Dix Foundation supports children and families affected by Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) through early intervention, trusted relationships, and specialist support. Our trained volunteers deliver awareness presentations, outreach and detached youth work, and one-to-one family support to help keep children safe, strengthen resilience, and reduce the risk of exploitation.

Presentations

The JDF offers  50-minute interactive presentation for students either as assemblies or class based sessions. There are additional sessions for parents and carers. Each session is generally delivered by two trained facilitators with real-life experience and enhanced DBS checks. No internet access is required, as we provide all materials via laptop or USB.

We pride ourselves on delivering bespoke presentations and training tailored to the specific audience. Our sessions share Joe’s story through family members with lived experience of Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) and knife crime, helping bring powerful real-world insight into the risks facing young people today.

Sessions for children are designed to empower, not instruct. Through engaging and impactful delivery, we explore the dangers, warning signs, and consequences of CCE and knife crime, equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence they need to make safer, informed choices for themselves.

Why it matters.
CCE, serious youth violence and knife crime place young people at serious risk of harm, yet many do not recognise the warning signs until it is too late. By sharing real-life experiences and trusted information, our sessions help children understand how exploitation happens, how to spot risk early, and where to seek help.

For parents and carers. Increased awareness means earlier intervention, stronger safeguarding, and a greater ability to protect children before exploitation escalates. Together, these sessions help create safer, more informed communities where young people are better equipped to make positive choices and adults feel confident to act.

CATASTROPHIC BLEED TRAINING

The JDF works in partnership with qualified, practising paramedics from  and experienced first responders to deliver practical, life-saving first aid training. Alongside our presentations, we offer hands-on sessions led by paramedics, including our unique How to Stem a Bleed training.

These interactive sessions focus on catastrophic bleed management (with and without equipment). Training is delivered in small groups to ensure everyone can actively take part, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to respond effectively in an emergency.

Why this matters
In emergencies involving serious injury or violence, the actions taken in the first few minutes can save a life. By equipping young people and adults with practical first aid skills, including CPR and catastrophic bleed management, we help communities feel confident to act rather than panic. These skills are especially vital in the context of knife crime and exploitation, where rapid response can mean the difference between life and death. Our training empowers individuals to protect themselves and others, turning awareness into real, life-saving action.

LEAFLETS

The Foundation has a series of leaflets and posters available for display or distribution. These include:

  • ‘It could be you’ leaflet for children
  • ‘It can happen to any child’ for adults
  • ‘How to stem a bleed’ poster
  • ‘Knife crime in Norfolk’ poster

EXHIBITIONS

We can attend community events with our bright, branded gazebo, banners, and leaflets to share Joe’s story and raise awareness of exploitation and knife crime.

We can attend events with our display of knives taken off the streets in Norfolk, preserved in resin, to show the real-life consequences of knife crime. We can also demonstrate how our bleed kits work, giving a hands-on insight into life-saving first aid.

If you are hosting an event and think it would be appropriate for us to attend  we would be delighted to be invited.
